Bicycle power to charge phone

Hello,

first of all i am sorry that i do not speak dutch, but i hope you can still help me. I plan to do a very very long trip (for which i am 0 prepared) and i am looking at solutions to charge my phone while on the bike, like a dynamo or whatever exists and it's not more expensive then the bike itself. I already bought a travel solar panel which i hope will work but i would like to have a backup (or a first choice) and something that uses the wheel motion seems like a good idea, but if there are other ideas out-there i am more then happy to hear them.

Again sorry for the english, but as i live in NL i figured it's the best place to ask.

Thank you and sunny pedaling.
The option are not cheap, you need a hub dynamo for the best performance, then you need a device to charge your gps/mobile

look for bicycle hub charger
Thanks for the answer, have you (or anyone else) used this, Are they stable enough? i've been reading up on it and the common opinion as i understand it is that these cannot really charge a phone unless you do a constant high speed

Thanks
My opinion fwiw.
Beter buy a triple plug to charge more devices once there is wall plug available.

The charging capacity charging from the dynamo is often overestimated.
One of your devices may be a WakaWaka
https://waka-waka.com/nl/product/wakawaka-power-yellow/
It can be used as a power bank as well.
I'm using it frequently at home whenever I need some light for home odd jobs etc.
for charging a cell phone i wouldn’t use the hub, better invest in a good powerbank.
if you have a garmin device it will do.
You could look on Marktplaats for a front wheel with dynamo hub. Or other a used one right here https://www.fietsonderdelengroothandel. ... rch=dynamo[/url]

Delivery time about a week. 37,50,- exc shipping.

You could then use a cycle2charge or a BM E-werk for charging your phone. Also search for a cheap dynamo powered front light and your set to go.
If you have a hub dynamo you could opt for a Cycle2Charge usb charger.

This is best combined with a power bank, you connect your phone to your power bank and keep the power bank charged with the Cycle2Charge usb charger.

This is especially recommended if you are spending the night in nature and thereby do not have power to charge a powerbank in the evening.
charging will start at the speed of approx 12km/h, the faster you drive the more power you will get.
keep that in mind when you cycling are the mountains.
hill up you will not charge at all, hill down you will charge just the way down and that is not much.
https://www.cycle2charge.de/ is easy to connect to your dynamo and with usb to a powerbank. It works well and costs about 90 euro. Connecting directly to a phone is not recommended.
Hello,

It depends where you go to cycle. When your bicycle trip is away from houses, you can better have a dynamo hub, so not, take a powerbank of 20000 wh. I have it to and I can charge my phone 5 times with it. And it always works.

A 21W solar panel will charge as fast as a wall charger in direct sun light in the sumer, on a gray day it will give enough power laying flat on your rear rack to charge 1 phone, best to use with a good power bank.

On a dark rain day there wil be almost no charge

A Garmin GPS like the 1030/1040/1050 will last 3 or 4 days on 1 charge, a phone last about 4 hours on 1 charge
I can start the day with a (say) 40/55% charge of my iPhone. With a Shimano hub dynamo and a converter from Busch+Muller, which converts the charging power to a constant 5V needed for my phone, I have my phone charged to a 100% mostly by the end of a day, rain or shine, and navigating the whole day. Besides that, I have light on my bicycle when I need it, convenient in dark hours or places. Average cycling speed for me is about 15km, depending on road- and weather conditions.
B+M USB-Werk costs about €100,00, wheel with hub dynamo varies in price...Then you're set to travel and navigate. A powerbank as back-up is a safe investment, chargeable on 220V where available.
Good luck with all the advice!
for what it's worth, this is a brand new device 'on sale' in case you take the option of the hub:

I am using a Son hub with a forumslader charger/powerbank device. Works great for charging an phone and an Garmin.
