Hey Cyclists,

Going to cycle down to the City of Light between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, to be right on time for the fireworks. Who would like to join?

I found a very nice and detailed book from Cyclingeurope with maps and information for the entire route.

Route:
26th Amsterdam – Den Bosch, 97km
27th Den Bosch – Diest, 96km
28th Diest – Dinant, 92km
29th Dinant – Vervins, 97km
30th Vervins – Pierrefonds, 95km
31th Pierrefonds – Paris, 85km

Trekking bike or similar is recommended. I am not a hardcore cyclist, but did a trip of similar distance last winter.

Hotels and B&Bs along the route will cost between 40 and 80 euros per night.

Travel back to Holland with bike on train is possible but not with the high-speed Thalys.

Hello Marcel,

Travelling back by Thalys and bicycle is possible...
You have to remove your front wheel and use a bag.
Did this last summer.

Moet er wel als kanttekening bij plaatsen dat ik het van te voren niet heel relaxed vond. Pas toen ik in de trein zat was het ok.
Dit heeft te maken met onduidelijkheid en verhalen dat je soms geweigerd kunt worden. En dan meteen de conducteur die eerst heel arrogant zegt; 'die fiets kan zo niet mee' Ik had zelf een 1e klas ticket, zaterdagochtend 6:30 en toen was het vrij rustig maar ik vroeg me af als je 2e klas reist en het is bomvol waar je de fiets dan moet laten. Er is beperkt plek.
