Hi all:
Some days ago I was looking for a TX400, but I have some problems finding the right size for me. Given the change for an ahead steerer and that fork only come with three 10mm spacers, I think that the 52cm could leave the handlebar too low, and that the 57 cm is a little large for me (177cm with 85cm inseam).
What I have more or less decided is to spend a little bit more in a bike that I can build as I want, and have an uncut steerer to select the handlebar height.
I see that many people in the Nederlands like the Santos Travelmaster 26'' (cromo). This bike is difficult to buy from spain at reasonable price. The only option I have found is to buy the frame set from http://www.meilenweit.net and build it up.
However, there is a shop in Barcelona where I can buy a Velotraum Konzept bike, at similar pricess than the Santos Travelmaster.
Both bikes, Santos Travelmaster cromo and Velotraum cross cromo seam very similar. The Velotraum is 400 gr heavier than the Santos (3250 gr vs 2850 gr in the Ex version, and 2990 gr vs 2500 gr in the deraulier version).
My questions are:
Can somebody who has ridden both bikes tell me his/her thoughts on both bikes?
Do you think that the difference in weight is determinant to choose for one bike or the other?
Any opinion on the quality of both frames?
About Santos Travelmaster, does the Ex version also have a derailleur hanger?
And finally, sizing. As I said, I am 177cm tall with 85cm inseam (slightly short torso and long legs). I am usually fitted on a 19'' ATB. Does it mean that the 19'' Santos Travelmaster could also be the right one for me?
Thanks in advance,
Christian.
