Cycling the Americas - a short film

A really enjoyable video of Mark Watson and Hana Black cycling the Americas.

We’ve also added 3 new guest photographers to our blog:

Ben Page

Eric Timmerman

Heike Pirngruber

Ben and Eric’s trips have finished for now, but Heike is back on the road again and heading towards Africa. She’s a fantastic photographer who used to work as a camerawoman for the German television station ZDF.
Thanks for sharing Grace. Love to see all those beautiful pictures of great bike trips.

Thank you very much!
I have been watching the film breathlessly. Absolutely beautiful! And than I always wonder how 'the making off' would look like. Where do you find the stamina to do everything needed to create such a professional document and still do the effort to cross the Americas at the same time?

+1
Incredible shots. Recognized a few things from Peru, such as the names painted on walls. I wonder how they manage to take with them all the equipment (large lenses, drone) in so few bags. Obvisuously it it possible.

Thanks for sharing Grace!
Happy to hear that others also enjoyed the film. :)

Mark and Hana are sponsored by Kathmandu – an outdoor clothing and gear retailer from New Zealand.

Kathmandu sent a small crew to Peru to follow them for a few days and make a film about their trip for Kathmandu’s ‘World Ready’ campaign.

Mark and Hana are shooting some video during their tour but their main emphasis is on still photos since Mark is planning on putting together a photo book.

Mark has put together an excellent article titled:

Photography on the Road: equipment & workflow for bikepacking

I wonder how they manage to take with them all the equipment (large lenses, drone) in so few bags.
Mark doesn’t mention carrying a drone – so those shots were probably taken by the film crew.

Mark also put together a post on how they manage to carry all of their electronic gear.
