A day of contrasts. Old town in Budva, up and down coast road, refreshing swim, a gaggle of long distance cyclists and camping next to the cow highway in Albania.

From Holland to Australia. Day 51.
Who to trust? Who to believe? After an uneventful cycle, I found myself taking down my tent in the dark, and listening to stories of rebels and stabbings in the area in front of a little electric heater in a small room in the town hall building. I didn’t sleep all night, lying on the floor of the café opposite the town hall with the café owner next to me to stop break-ins. Ouch.

Wat een spanning en avontuur, kan me goed voorstellen dat je alert was vanwege de angst om beroofd te worden. Aparte 'camping plaatsen' ook. Zie uit naar de volgende update(s). Mooi comment van een lezer die inspiratie krijgt via jouw blog en zelf wilt gaan fietsen!

Een paar leuke dagen fietsen sinds het vorig bericht. De updates zijn dagelijks direct op arctic-cycler.com te zien.
Ik ben veilig van Albanië weggekomen, en heb een paar mooie dagen in Macedonië, weer samen met James. Highlight was een prachtige klim boven Lake Ohrid. Super gaaf.

Grey, wind, gloom. Goce joined us to the Greek border before we continued along the straight, flat road into the headwind. It was totally uninspiring and we had to push ourselves (me especially) to get some kilometres done.

From Holland to Australia by bike. I've arrived in Istanbul.
69 days after leaving Eindhoven, I arrived in Istanbul. There are quite a few blog entries since I last posted here. They can all be seen on http://arctic-cycler.com for anyone interested in reading about my latest adventures including a drive in the countryside to see a sheep slaughtered (http://arctic-cycler.com/2014/11/20/day ... uleburgaz/).

From Holland to Australia by bike.
I will be flying out of Istanbul on December 5 for the winter. In the mean-time, I have done some nice cycling in Turkey. Highlight was the Gallipoli peninsula - an almost sacred place for Australians and New Zealanders. Many lots their lives there in the First World War.

Hoi hoi.
Mijn fietstocht van dit jaar is nou voorbij. Vanavond neem ik de boot terug naar Istanbul, and daar blijft mijn fiets voor de winter. Het was een heel leuke tocht. Veel mooie plekken gezien, leuke mensen ontmoet, en ervaringen gehad. En, het beste - volgend jaar gaat het door!!
